After leaving the river Avonmore, we follow a nice trail up towards the forest. There, the views open up over lush fields and rounded mountains on both side of Avonmore valley. The trail meanders through the moorland and we have time to enjoy these magnificent views. Further on, we can see a wide perspective over the Wicklow Mountains.
This beautiful valley lies in the heart of Wicklow Mountains National Park. It is well-known for its magnificent landscapes, its two lakes and the ruins of a famous monastery from the 6th century. On reaching a viewpoint, a beautiful perspective opens up over the valley and the two lakes. Here we will spot the Round Tower overlooking the ruins of the Monastic Site and the valley as it has done for many centuries.
