Half day walking tours

Our half-day tours are ideal for exploring the area on Dublin’s doorstep, especially if you only have a couple of hours to spare. All of them include a two hour guided walk. Meet the guide in Dublin City Center and travel with her by public transport to the start of the walk and back. This is a unique opportunity for exploring off the beaten track itineraries where tourists don't usually venture and for getting a chance to meet the friendly locals.

From Dublin, it takes about  thirty minutes with the train to reach the start of the walk.  The railway line was built close to the sea shore and the views over the sea and the coast are amazing.  Killiney Hill Park was built at the end of the 19th century over two hills overlooking the coast and the mountains.  The trails meander through the park woodlands up to the top of the two hills standing at the heart of the Park.  A tall obelisk stands on one of them while on the other, there is a tower built some two hundred years.  On the way back, we pass by a quaint harbour facing Dalkey island.

We travel by train from Dublin to the start of the walk, enjoying the beautiful views over the sea and the coast. Walking along a nice trail meandering through the woodlands, we soon reach Ballycorus Chimney, standing on a wide plateau overlooking the coast and the mountains.  The Chimney used to be part of a smelting plant which was processing ore from Glendalough.  It closed down more than a century ago but the Chimney is still standing tall, reminding us of the mining activity in area.
